CAMBRIDGE EARLY YEARS PROGRAMME (KINDERGARTEN)
Cambridge Early Years programme is the start of an exciting educational journey that helps learners aged 3 to 6 develop the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to make the best possible start in life.
It gives centres everything they need to deliver a quality early years education: a holistic and balanced curriculum, engaging classroom resources, assessment approaches to measure learners’ progress, and professional development opportunities. Teaching and learning is play-based and child-centred, and focuses on building learners’ skills and confidence in key developmental areas.
We developed Cambridge Early Years in line with international best practice and research, and in collaboration with pioneers of early education in India.
A Learning should complement the social and cultural factors (like experiences of home and
community) that shape a child’s learning and development.
Children should be involved in their own learning through well-planned experiences that help them develop competence, agency, emotional attachment and self-worth.
Learning should encourage an appropriate balance of physical, cognitive, language and
communications, and social and emotional development.
AGS focuses on developing and strengthening Intelligence quotient (IQ — ’Capability, Emotional Quotient (EQ) — ‘Will‘ and Spiritual quotient(SQ)—‘Purpose’among the students by initiating diverse events and activities
Aimed at developing students into wholesome and holistic personalities, the Personality Development programs incorporate intensive training and workshops by professional trainers.

Communication, language & literacy
Speaking, listening, reading and writing are crucial to children's early development. Showing children the importance of language through fun activities and encouraging them to engage with a wide range of texts helps to ignite a lifelong curiosity for learning. While the Cambridge Early Years curriculum is designed for teaching and learning in English, celebrating the home language(s) of learners is also very important.
Understanding the world
Children’s natural curiosity must be encouraged, so that they are equipped to reflect, question, explore and interact, and guided in their understanding of the world. This area of the curriculum lays foundations for a range of different subjects in primary education and beyond, including science, digital literacy, history, geography and religious education.
At an early age, it's important to help children recognise how mathematics impacts everyday life. Through games and activities, we can introduce children to mathematical language, thinking and concepts that they will need when they start their primary education.
Our curriculum encourages children to develop movement skills through play, promoting positive attitudes towards exercise and laying the foundations for healthy, active lives.
Creative expression allows children to communicate their ideas and develop their imagination through art and design, music, dance and drama. This important curriculum area brings together skills and cognitive processes from across the whole curriculum.
Personal, social & emotional
This area underpins children’s wellbeing and attainment in all other areas of their learning. It helps them to develop social learning and friendships, regulate their emotional responses and respond to the needs of others, and develop self-esteem and confidence.

The IGCSE approach to teaching is to introduce the students to a variety of subjects and encourage them to make connections between them. IGCSE focuses on developing the students understanding, Skill and Knowledge in the following areas.The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is recognized by universities and institutes of higher education around the world.The Cambridge IGCSE provides a foundation for hipher level programs, including A and AS levels.
This program provides broad knowledge and develops creative thinking, application orientation for the concepts and enquiry into every aspect of the learning. Good IGCSE grades count towards entry to top universities and colleges in India and around the world. The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for children aged 5-10 nurtures and develops young students as caring, active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. Primary Years Programme - PYP
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) at AGS, for students aged 5-10 focuses on the development of the whole child, addressing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs, while giving students a strong foundation in all of the major areas of knowledge. Through the PYP, children become aware of and sensitive to the points of view of people in other parts of the world.
We offer the PYP for students in grades 1-5 (aged 5-10). The programme focuses on the development of the whole child. It is geared towards creating independent, confident and respectful learners.
Our classroom curriculum addresses the children’s social, physical, cultural and ethical development while giving them a strong foundation in all the major areas of knowledge.
The core subjects we cover include English, language, mathematics, social studies, science and technology. Our programme also includes a beginning computing course, physical education, music, art and Robotics.
Students and teachers explore questions in all subject areas using an interactive, student-centered approach. The knowledge element of the curriculum is enhanced by six themes that are studies across the various subject disciplines. These are:

These transdisciplinary themes of global significance are addressed through six units of inquiry at each grade level, and this forms the school’s programme of inquiry. The programme of inquiry is the conceptual cirrculum framework for the PYP. The transdiciplinary themes ensure that they are”revisited throughout the students’years of PYP so that they are immersed in broad ranging, in-depth, articulated curriculum content” (making the PYP happen: A curriculum framework for international primary education).
The PYP develops well-rounded students who are well versed in all areas of knowledge. They learn to be intellectually curious, principled, caring, open-minded, well balanced and reflective learners.

AGS believes that love for education should be developed for children in the initial years and conditions should be created for them to pursue a positve approach in life.
A unidirectional teaching method is being increasingly substitued by a multdirectional group workshop method. Here the teacher becomes the group co-ordinator initiating work, nurturing students without the phobia of examinations and homework, Emphasis is on development of oral and written expression. Home assignments are not a carry-over of classwork but oriented towards honoing individual talents.

At this stage too, the curriculum supports experiential learning, focuses on conceptual clarity by relating learning to everyday life, developing thinking and analytical skills. The curriculum also aims at nurturing the affective domain of the learners through subjects and activities which will help develop the basic life skills in the learner — self-awareness, effective communication skills and emotional strength. The pedagogy at this stage is not absolutely fixed, structured or prescribed but it is multi-dimensional and flexible, which gives the learner ample opportunities to explore and discover.
The learning areas include:
Languages (English, Hindi) — Acquire the skills of listening, speaking, reading & writing, acquire varied range of vocabulary, develop interpersonal communication skills and express meaningfully. Third Language is introduced in Class IV. These languages are taught through activities with an aim to initiate the language in a fun way. However, a more structured syllabus is followed in the upper primary stage.
Mathematics — Performing operation of numbers, understanding shapes, similarities and differences, collecting data, representing and analysing the data, identifying patterns in shapes and numbers etc.
Environmental Science — To make them aware of their surroundings, appreciative of and sensitive of environmental issues (natural, physical, social and cultural)

Children also get opportunities to join various hobby clubs as per their interest and aptitude. They participate in intra-section and inter-section competitions, class assemblies, annual days, celebrations and social awareness campaigns.
The scheme of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE), as designed and laid out by the CBSE & NCERT, is followed in the Junior School. Formal test & Exams are introduced in Class IV.

Our educators will help you configure a student-designed project or prepare for debating an environmental issue at International platforms. Having trouble in French? He or she will arrange tutoring. While helping plan and structure your projects, our educators will work with you to take multiple factors into account.
Our educators are trained in International Baccalaureate (PYP)methods and are updated according to the norms of the board. Its a mandate from the school to undergo 3 days workshops to equip themselves to teach the students and making them to understand the concepts.
Guest lectures also figure prominently on the programme schedule. They are picked from a variety of backgrounds ranging from successful businessmen to inspiring leaders and motivational speakers
We, at AGS believe that every child possesses special intelligence which he / she exhibits in either academics or sports or co-curricular activities.
At AGS, the children will be given additional help in academics under the supervision of a mentor as part of the reinforcement classes.
